My passion is to alert and enlighten women and all of the breastfeeding community about Dysphoric Milk Ejection Reflex (D-MER) and to encourage further research into this phenomenon. While I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I am also someone who has experienced D-MER firsthand.
My research of D-MER started in 2007, as the result of my own experience nursing my third child. I’ve been dubbed the person “…who spoke until somebody listened”, because I wasn’t satisfied with the answers that I was receiving from professionals. This was different and I had a feeling that I wasn’t alone. Since then, D-MER has gained attention in the medical and breastfeeding communities.
As an author, speaker and researcher on the subject of D-MER, I support mothers and healthcare professionals worldwide in relation D-MER. I am in private practice as a lactation consultant in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, part of the next generation of lactation consultants who are shining new light inside the field and science that is lactation.
